i feel honoured 2 have worked on every issue of Juno since the beginning. my good friend emma hiwaizi founded the magazine in 2004 along with patricia patterson vanegas & i was happy 2 help with sub-editing, proof-reading & article contributions. now 8 years later, it is still going strong & i am proud 2 be associated with what i believe is the best parenting magazine around. always honest & open, never judgemental or prescriptive, Juno is just like a good mum: supportive, nurturing, compassionate and wise.

Yayoi Kusama

last week we went to tate modern 2 see the Yayoi Kusama exhibition

it was utterly wonderful & inspiring & i recommend everyone go see it, its on til june

this room is downstairs, near the cloakrooms, separate from the rest of the exhibition, & free 2 enter

its called the obliteration room

Kusama has painted the entire room white: floor, ceiling, walls, sofas, chairs, shelves, tables, all utterly white

when u go in, u get a sheet of stickers, dots of different colours and sizes, & u can place them wherever u please

given that this is how the room looks after the exhibition’s only been open a few weeks, it’s going to look incredible by june

this, 2 me, is the best kind of art: interactive, fluid, stimulating, subversive, and just plain & simple fun.

damn, cupcakes r not as easy as they look u know

i guess thats part of the appeal

they appear as decorative, insubstantial & ephemeral

when in fact they require a ton of work & an equal application of skill

imma keep practicing til i perfect the art of making them look like a little something i knocked up between picking flowers in a meadow & painting my toenails with glitter.

Sunsplash Antalya 2012

Sunsplash 2011 was one of the best times I had last year, and I’m really looking forward to going again this year, and taking the whole family. It’s got the best DJ line up, including my personal favourites Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay, Phil Asher, and Dego. It’s set in a stunning 5* hotel, with a private beach, pool parties, and a heavenly spa. There’s a morning and evening buffet included, which even has a raw food section, so no worries about what to eat. It attracts an older crowd, with most people around my age (30s-40s), and last year there were lots of people who brought their children. We are all seasoned clubbers, so the parties still go on all night though! There’s yoga classes in the day, some interesting workshops, and even a raw food class from me. It’s a small festival with an intimate atmosphere, and a brilliant bunch of people. Let me know if you’re planning on coming, I can’t recommend it highly enough.
